Our colleague Maaike van der Linde is extremely curious by nature. #understatement. Discovering new things is perhaps her greatest hobby. And that makes her a kind of jack of all trades with diverse interests, which sometimes don’t seem to fit together at all. Such as cooking, reading, playing board games, writing and walking. But also designing cosplays and learning a new language, in her case Korean. Maaike doesn’t turn her back on anything and always strives for quality and improvement: “If it can be better, I want to make it better.”
Her career journey began as an elementary school teacher, where she enjoyed the human side of teaching and contributing to the growth and development of young children. However, her curiosity and desire for continuous improvement led her to the versatile field of software testing and quality assurance, where her skills in asking questions and seeking clarity are invaluable.
The Sky Is the Limit. Adventure Awaits!
Maaike does not allow herself to be limited and sees a challenge in everything. Even ‘standstill’ is not a regression for her; rather, it is a way to gather energy for progress. Traveling does this to her too. For her, traveling means appreciating what you have and what you don’t have. It offers endless inspiration and insight. Exploring untouched territory, even in IT, is something she loves. She prefers to go into unspoilt nature to discover new terrain. She also does this in her work.
With everything she does, she discovers new places, sometimes physically, and sometimes from the letters on a page or through the flavors on her plate. The challenge then is to not only discover something new, but also to become excellent at it. Because when she does something, she does it well, preferably perfectly. That pursuit of quality makes her a very good software tester, but also a passionate chef, ground-breaking adventurer and perhaps one day a world-class writer. Who knows. 🙂
What's Cooking?
Whether it is a programming language or the Korean language, Maaike is open to continuous growth and development. This also appeals to her enormously at Nekst IT, where she is given the opportunity to develop herself on all fronts, both business and private. She also enjoys preparing delicious meals, showcasing her culinary skills. Maaike likes to cook for others. The best conversations often arise at the table, while eating. Cooking something that someone has never eaten before allows her to share a little of her curiosity and enthusiasm with someone else.
