On this National Dutch Day of Music, just before the well-deserved weekend, we would like to let ourselves be carried away with the musical hobby of our colleague Jasper Loos. Jasper plays as a drummer and singer in the cover band ‘Lekker Weer’, which consists of five friends with a broad musical interest. Driven by passion, their mission is to present an original menu of covers. Over 100 hits in barely 2 hours, it’s one big medley madness! Carefully transformed into a feast of recognition for young and old(er). Some colleagues from Nekst IT recently visited the band in De Heeren van Aemstel, where they gave a fantastic performance!
What Is the Link Between Making Music and Test Automation?
Love for test automation and music. In addition to his work as a Test Automation Architect, Jasper regularly makes time to unleash his musical creativity. The band has been playing together for eight years and have had no less than 83 performances. You may have seen them perform at their own party during the party week in Roelofarendsveen, at Nobel in Leiden or at the Top festival in Lichtenvoorde. All highlights, just like the performances in De Heeren van Aemstel. Playing in a cover band is a great way to make music, have fun and get energy from the music you play. But how does this relate to Test Automation? Not directly at first glance, but these two disciplines can go hand in hand. The keyword here is dedication.
To be a good musician, you must be committed to learning and perfecting your skills. You have to be willing to practice and make mistakes to get better. The same goes for Test Automation. To be a good test automaton, you must be committed to learning (and perfecting) the automated tools and understanding the process.
First, let’s look at Test Automation. Test Automation is a process of testing software using automated tools. Composing Test Automation means creating and adapting the test automation process to the specific needs of your project.
Let’s also look at playing in a (cover)band. It’s a great way to collaborate with other musicians and make music together that moves people. There’s nothing like the energy that comes from playing a song together and the audience going crazy. Because giving away a fantastically composed show is something the men of ‘Lekker Weer’ can do like no other!
The performance tasted like more! But unfortunately…. On King’s Day 2023 they will play their very last announced performance. Other priorities weigh more heavily and the band will therefore only be seen live once. Or not? Because we have heard from a very reliable source that there will be one extra performance in Leiden in November. Don’t miss that! For more details and information: www.lekkerweer.band or watch and listen to their musical journey on Instagram. We enjoyed this evening and the energy that splashed from it with all band members, but also the positive energy that was released in the room. And Jasper.. thanks for the invite!
